ACoS, TACoS, and the number that actually matters
ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sale) tells you what % of ad-attributed revenue went to ad spend. TACoS (Total ACoS) divides ad spend by total sales — a far more honest signal of whether ads are growing the business or just shifting organic sales onto paid.
The key number is break-even ACoS, which equals your net margin %. Above it, ads lose money. Below it, ads grow profit. A healthy mature listing sits at TACoS under 10% and ACoS comfortably below break-even. New launches can run higher temporarily to buy rank.
